Frances Marie Moore

Frances Marie MooreFrances Marie Moore, 93, passed from this earthly life on October 31, 2008 in the loving presence of her family.  Frances was born in Green County, WI on December 19, 1914, the daughter of William and Esther Gavigan.


Frances was the grand-daughter of Irish immigrants who settled the Madison, WI area in the mid-1800’s.


Frances met her husband, David Leroy Moore, in Washington, D.C. where they were married in 1940.  During WWII Frances worked for the American Red Cross while Dave was employed by the U.S. Government.   In 1945 the family moved to Galveston where Frances was employed by Sears Roebuck and Co., first as secretary to the store manager and then as Personnel Manager and Employee Training Coordinator.  She retired in 1978.


Frances was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Basilica where she attended mass on Saturday evenings.  The family wishes to thank all in the church who provided rides for Frances and those who made sure she got to her pew safely.  She always spoke of you fondly and treasured you as friends.


Frances is preceded in death by her husband, David, her parents William & Esther, her brother Robert Gavigan and two sisters who died in infancy.  She leaves two children, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren to cherish her memory and continue her legacy of devotion to marriage, family and faith.


Frances is survived by daughter Marcia Rozelle and husband Bill of Dickinson;  son Dennis L. Moore and wife Martha of Trophy Club, TX;  grandson Mark O. Moore, wife Catherine, children McKinley and Brendan of Keller, TX;   grandson Matthew G. Moore, wife Kim, children Mallory, Gavin and Ainsley of Oceanside, CA; grandson Douglas L. Moore and wife Jordan of Rockwall, TX;  grandson A J Jinkins, III, wife Laura and daughter Jami of Jones Creek, TX;  granddaughter Amber Jinkins Thompson-White, husband Jeffrey, children Haley, Nathan and Layne of Alvin, TX.


Her family will receive visitors at 11:00 am, Friday, November 7th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 Noon at the church with entombment immediately after the service at Calvary Mausoleum.


Pallbearers will be A.J. Jinkins, III; Mark Moore; Matthew Moore; Douglas Moore; Nathan Thompson; and Jeffrey White.


In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Mary’s Basilica Restoration Fund; 2011 Church, Galveston, TX 77550.
