FEMA SALUTES ITS MILITARY PARTNERS ON VETERANS DAY
AUSTIN - On November 11, Veterans Day, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) salutes the military personnel who were instrumental in meeting the needs of people affected by the devastation of Hurricane Ike.
Without the help of these dedicated individuals, a difficult job would have been impossible to accomplish.
Texas Military Forces and military units from the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy and Marines, accomplished a large variety of disaster relief and humanitarian tasks in support of local, state and federal organizations. These dedicated men and women set up security, conducted search and rescue missions, delivered medical aid, performed pre and post-landfall evacuations, helped distribute more than 1,300 truckloads of meals, almost 1,200 truckloads of ice, 1,600 truckloads of water, cleared debris and performed admirably a multitude of other tasks assigned them.
On this Veterans Day, we honor their service to the country and the service of the hundreds of other military veterans currently working among us to provide relief to the survivors of Hurricane Ike.
