Lucy Burleigh

Lucy BurleighLucy Burleigh, 72, departed this life on November 3, 2008 at mainland Medical Center in Texas City.

Lucy was born March 18, 1936, in Opelousas , LA to Eliza and Isaac Harrison, Sr.. She attended school in Plaisance, LA and was a 1956 graduate of Plaisance High School. A longtime resident of Beaumont before moving to Galveston to be close to family, she was member of  the Starlight Baptist Church and later became a member of Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church in Beaumont, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents: husband: James Burleigh; and brothers: Isaac, Jr. and Paul L. Harrison.

She leaves to cherish memories, her sisters: Doris Redmon of Texas City; Ethel L. Stevens (Tom), and Betty Ivory both of Galveston; brothers, Alex Harrison (Mary) of Houston, and Fred Harrison (Clara) of San Diego, CA; aunt: Earline Lewis of Opelousas. LA; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, Tuesday, November 18, 2008, followed by a service celebrating her life at 11:00 am at Avenue L Baptist Church, with Rev. Dexter Henderson of the Mt. Moriah B.C. officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston.
