Doris Christine Benjamin Johnson

Doris Christine Benjamin Johnson, 62, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, TX.
Doris was born November 27, 1946 in Galveston, Texas to the late William Houston and Ophelia Rice Benjamin. She attended school in Galveston, and graduated from Central High School. Doris was employed by UTMB Hospital where she was known by many as “DJ”. and retired after many years of dedicated service.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Edward “Pepper” Benjamin, Sr.
She leaves to cherish the precious memories of her life, her children, Brian Elliot Jackson, and Yvette Benjamin-Garrett (Ron) both of Houston; grandchildren, Brittany Mechelle Kelly, and Madison Lane Garrett; special friend, Chester Bell; sisters, Lena Marie Woodard (Samuel), Rosalind O. Wilkins, and Alice Faye Thompson; one uncle; two aunts; fifteen nieces and nephews; thirty five great nieces and nephews; nineteen great great nieces and nephews; god-sons, Anthony Antoine, William Christen Sims; a host of other relatives and friends.
A service celebrating the life of Doris will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at Avenue L Baptist Church, with Rev. Louis Simpson, Jr., officiating.
