Annie Sewell

Annie Sewell,81, was born to the late Isaac Sewell, Sr. and Rosa Lee Shorter Sewell on January 30, 1927 in Galveston, Texas.
She attended public schools, and was a 1944 graduate of Central High School. She furthered her education by attending and graduating from Franklin Beauty School in Houston, TX in 1945, and was the owner and operator of Ann’s Beauty Shop for (40) forty years, retiring in 1987.
She was a faithful member of the West Point Baptist Church from childhood to adulthood until her health failed. She was baptized by the late Reverend A. C. Calhoun.
Ann had the ability to make people laugh and feel comfortable around her. Her unique personality allowed her to touch many lives. She will truly be missed.
Annie passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at Oceanview Care Center in Texas City, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Thelma Sewell Lloyd and Dorothy Sewell Nellums.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two devoted brothers, Isaac Sewell, Jr. and Joseph W. Sewell (Ruth); one sister, Ruth Sewell Davis; devoted niece, Peggy Kidd; 8 nieces; 6 nephews; 9 great nieces; 4 great nephews; cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10AM on Saturday, December 13, 2008, followed by a service celebrating her life at 11:00 A.M. at Avenue L Baptist Church with her pastor Rev. Kerry W. Tillmon officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
