MOODY GARDENS® OPENS FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS NIGHTLY INCLUDING CHRISTMAS EVE AND CHRISTMAS DAY

GALVESTON, TX – The holiday healing continues in Galveston as friends and family gather to enjoy Moody Gardens® Festival of Lights.  Now, with Christmas a mere week away, the seventh annual Festival of Lights gets into full swing and will take place nightly from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. through December 31st, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Moody Gardens® has drawn large crowds of local residents and visitors from all over the Houston region as well as returning visitor’s from Galveston since the event opened November 22nd. “We truly appreciate all those who have come out to support us,” said Moody Gardens® General Manager John Zendt, “This has been a challenging year and we are pleased to bring holiday joy to Galveston Island this season.”

In addition to the trail, guests can visit the IMAX® Theater to see The Light Before Christmas, Polar Express 4D in the 4D Special FX Theater or Santa’s Late in the Ridefilm Theater, they can also take a ride on the Holiday Train and have their picture taken with Santa. Visitors are also invited to participate in a weekly photo and video contest on the Moody Gardens® website to win the chance to meet a real penguin.

As a new holiday tradition guests can enjoy another new holiday event this year at the Moody Gardens® Convention Center. December 18 - 28 Island Star Performances presents The Gift of Christmas - Live, a Christmas dinner and show spectacular. Enjoy exciting performances from Texas’ brightest young talents and a traditional three-course Christmas dinner prepared by award-winning Executive Chef Urs Schmid.

Admission into the Festival of Lights is $3.95. Tickets to additional attractions including the IMAX® Theater, the Aquarium Pyramid®, Ridefilm and Colonel Paddlewheel Boat can be purchased for only $5 each with a Festival of Lights ticket. A special Evening Pass will be sold beginning at 4:45 p.m. which includes admission to the Festival of Lights and all of the Moody Gardens® attractions for just $19.00.
