Mary Christine Higgins
Malloy & Son Funeral Home

Mary Christine Higgins, of Galveston, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008.  Born May 9, 1924 to Patrick and Mary Ann Higgins, she graduated from Dominican High in 1941.  Mary was a long time employee of Santa Fe Railroad and UTMB.  Mary held memberships in Dominican Alumnae and American Business Women, serving several terms as president with both.  She was also a member of Legal Secretaries and Catholic Daughters of America where she was the first district deputy for the Galveston-Mainland area, charter member of the National Association Railway Business Women, Galveston charter.
 
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her brother John S. Higgins and wife LuVerne and great nephew John R. Anglin.
 
She is survived by brothers, Edward Higgins and his wife, Billie, of Santa Fe; Joseph Higgins and his wife, Leta, of Galveston; sisters, Erin Centenio, of Galveston; Eileen McDonough and husband, J. Michael, of St. Louis; Patricia Higgins of St. Louis; and Sheila Hawkins of Houston; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
 
Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 11:00 am, Saturday, December 20th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Saturday at Sacred Heart with Father Niall Nolan as Celebrant.  Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers will be Joseph Centenio, John Centenio, Stephen Higgins, Patrick K. Higgins, Charlie A. Hawkins, Patrick J. Higgins, II, Floyd Anglin, and Josh Painting.
