Ruby Nell Netherly

Ruby Nell Netherly, 67, fell asleep in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Christmas Day.
Ruby was born October 12, 1941, in Nacogdoches, TX to Lonnie B. and Rowena Powers Sparks. Ruby was joined in holy matrimony for over forty years to W.B. Netherly. She worked as a Housekeeping Supervisor at the Holiday Inn for many years until her retirement. After her retirement, she dedicated all of her time to being a devoted wife and grandmother.
Ruby was preceded in death by her mother, Rowena Powers Watts. She leaves with cherished memories of her life, husband: W.B. Netherly; father: Lonnie B. Sparks; sons: Lonnie L. Sparks, Frank Netherly; stepsons: Jay Netherly (Monica), Willie Netherly; daughters: Margie Quall (Shannon), Sylvia Netherly; stepdaughter: Edna Netherly; ten grandchildren; sister: Linda Watts; aunts: Maggie Anderson, Lena Fuller; niece: Tammy Forney (Tyrone); friend: Geraldine Smiley; devoted friend, Albert Lee and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 5:30 PM, followed by a wake from 7-8 PM on Friday, January 2, 2009 at Avenue L Baptist Church. A service celebrating the life of Ruby, will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 3, 2009, also at the church with Pastor Kerry W. Tillmon officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston.
