Elvin Porter (Steve) Stevenson Sr.After a strong and long battle with cancer, Elvin Porter (Steve) Stevenson Sr., beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend went to his Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the age of 81.
 
Steve was born in Zachery, LA to loving parents Calvin and Rosa Bell Stevenson who preceded him in death, as well as his wife, Ida Mae Stevenson and two of their sons; Raymond and Kevin Stevenson. 

He leaves to cherish his memory: two wonderful beloved sons, Elvin Jr. (Mira) and Aldero Stevenson (Cindy); daughter-in-law, Louise Stevenson; sister-in-law, Marjorie (Stevenson) Sellers; his beloved grandchildren, Nekilia Stevenson-Bell (Ray), Brandon Stevenson (Andrea), Requashi Fields Stevenson, Dominique Stevenson, Errol Stevenson, Quintin Stevenson, Jerie Stevenson, and Terrel O’Neil; his beloved great-grandchildren, Brandon, Myra, Michael, Kyrin and Chanel; his devoted niece, Joyce Judson (Larry); and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Steve will be watching over his beloved honorary family: devoted fiancé, Jessie Mae Curtis; daughters, Vanessa Thompson (Mike) and Cheryl Curtis; Ms. Curtis’ beloved grandchildren and sister, Nannie Collins to include his faithful god daughter, Jessica Curtis.

During the span of his life, Steve was blessed to experience the very dear and faithful friendships with Willie (Bub) Allen Jr., Tommie Lynex, Thermon Biggers, Leroy Boulet and Fleq (Capt Jack) Jackson.

Steve was known for his two great passions in life of taking care of his family and helping others; his love, loyalty, faithfulness and friendship will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held Friday, January 2nd from 2- 5:00 PM, at Avenue L Baptist Church.  A services celebrating Steve’s life will held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 3, 2009, also at church with Rev. E. R. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Mainland Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock, TX
