JOHN MANLOVE MARKETING TO
AID LEAGUE CITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
League City has hired JMMC as its first official marketing agency

The League City Economic Development Corporation (LCEDC) has named John Manlove Marketing & Communications (JMMC) its marketing agency of record. Through a variety of projects and initiatives, JMMC will help LCEDC procure and secure business activity throughout the city.

After an RFP process that began in October 2008, LCEDC’s board unanimously chose JMMC based on its creative, media and public relations capabilities, as well as specific plans developed as part of the process. The decision to use JMMC has been approved by the city council of League City.

“We are looking forward to working with John Manlove Marketing to develop an aggressive program to promote League City as a profitable location for business investment,” said Doug Frazior, economic development coordinator for League City. “The marketing program will provide a positive image of our city and help ensure our competitive position in the Houston metropolitan area.”

The LCEDC was incorporated in 1984, but this is the first time it has contracted a marketing agency for ongoing services. The city wanted to be more competitive with other similar-size cities in attracting business.

“We always enjoy working with clients that have a lot to offer, and you seldom find a client that has as much to offer as this one,” John Manlove, CEO, said. “We have an exciting plan for 2009 — we hope to tell a lot of people about this great city.”

Stephen F. Austin originally settled League City in 1825. Only 20 miles southeast of Houston, the city encompasses 55 square miles south of Clear Lake and west of Galveston Bay. It is along both sides of Interstate 45. The local economy has experienced a 51-percent population growth rate since the 2000 census.

The area’s economic base includes aerospace, petrochemical, health care, upscale commercial and boating sectors. Its household income levels and education profiles are well above the average for the Houston area. In 2008, Grey House Publications included League City in its annual survey, America’s Top-Rated Smaller Cities. (Cities are ranked by population growth, median income, unemployment rate and crime rate.)

John Manlove Marketing & Communications is a full-service marketing agency and has served the Greater Houston area for more than 40 years. In the last two years alone, the American Advertising Federation Houston has recognized JMMC with 36 “Addy” awards for marketing excellence. In 2008, the Texas Public Relations Association awarded JMMC with a Silver Spur for marketing, and in 2005, Baylor University named it the Texas Family Business of the Year.
