Jackie DreyfusJackie Dreyfus age 84 of Friendswood died Monday, January 26, 2009 at Clear Lake Regional Hospital in Webster. Funeral Mass is 10:00 am Friday, January 30, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Father John Bok, OFM celebrant. Private family burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home.
Jackie was born March 8, 1924 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Lawrence A. Mallini and Christine Kunz Mallini. The family moved to Galveston in 1934 where Jackie attended public school before graduating from Dominican High School class of 1941. She married Leon Dreyfus in 1946 and began their family. Jackie was active in Girl Scouting on the Island as a troop leader and at the state level as the Galveston representative to the South Texas Council of Girl Scouts. She was active in the church community at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and later at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society and the Sand Dollar senior group.
Preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ann Bader and brother, Lawrence Mallini, Jr., survivors include her husband of 61 years, Leon R. Dreyfus, Sr. of Friendswood; daughter, Christine Dreyfus; son, Leon R. Dreyfus, Jr. and wife Marilyn Kenoyer, their children, Alyssa Dreyfus, Daniel Dreyfus, and Ariel Dreyfus and daughter, Abigail Garrett; son, Charlie Dreyfus and wife Trudy Rossi, their children, son, Chuck Dreyfus, his son, Dylan Dreyfus, Dylan’s mother, Lisa Dreyfus, daughter, Rachel Chapman and husband Randall Chapman, their children, Charlene, Carolyn, and Chase Chapman; son, Lawrence Dreyfus and wife Elise, their children, daughter, Rebecca Dreyfus, son, David Dreyfus and wife Kristen, and their daughter, Mallina. Other surviving family members include her brother, Pat Mallini and wife Tommie, their children, especially Mary Ann Mallini, and numerous other nieces and nephews. Jackie will be sadly missed by many.
Pallbearers are Chuck Dreyfus, Daniel Dreyfus, David Dreyfus, Randall Chapman, Jerry Burke, and Josh Fruehan.
