GALVESTON.-Ralph Henry James, Sr., 71, departed this life on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at his residence. Ralph was born May 1, 1937, in Anderson, TX to Richard W. and Charlotte Knox James.
He attended school in Anderson and was a 1959 graduate of Richard High School. He was formerly employed with UTMB; Druss Furniture; Bock Meat Co. (thus earning the nickname “Meat Cutter”); Texas Fiberglass, and GISD. Ralph’s final day was spent as a landscaper for the late Bill McGuffey, and then the Lober family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Earnest Hulen, Robert, Jessie, Royce, and Chester James.
He leaves cherish memories with his children, Patricia James Guidry (Wallace); Michael W. James, Sr. (Zelda); Ralph H. James, Jr. (Monica); Roshaunda Horton, and Raphael Satterwhite; brother, Leon James; sisters, Mary Helen Hall, and Madeline James all of Galveston; 20 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; five sisters in law; devoted ex wife, Mary James; devoted friends, Prince, and Catherine Broddie, and very devoted friends and employer, Patrick and Barbara Lober; a host of nieces nephews other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 am on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, followed by funeral service at 11:00 am at the Wesley Tabernacle United Methodist Church with Pastor Henry Hynson officiating and burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
