Adrian Pena Diaz, Sr.
Carnes Brothers Funeral Home

Adrian Pena Diaz, Sr.Adrian Pena Diaz, Sr., age 80, of La Marque went home to be with the Lord Monday, February 2, 2009 at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Friday, February 6, 2009 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church of La Marque, Father Chacko Puthumayil celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home of Galveston, Texas. The family will receive visitors at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 I-45 north in Texas City from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 5, 2009 with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 pm.

Adrian was born August 12, 1928 in Kenedy, Texas to Macario Diaz and Manuela Pena Diaz. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Galveston County retiring in 1992 with over 24 years of service. He enjoyed watching wrestling and barbecuing for his family. Adrian was a family man that especially loved his grandchildren whom he would teach about the history of the family and how to live a successful and productive life.

Preceded in death by his parents, survivors include his wife of 60 years, Virginia Diaz of La Marque; daughters, Irma Rodriguez and husband Nick Rodriguez, III of Robstown, Sylvia Alvarado and husband Rev. Samuel Alvarado of Galveston, and Cynthia Foley and Dave Garcia of Texas City, sons, Noe Diaz and wife Mary of Texas City, Adrian Diaz, Jr. and wife Gloria of Texas City, Richard Diaz and wife Sally of La Marque, Robert Diaz and Carol Phares of La Marque, Randy McCoy and wife Ayesha of Galveston, and Ricky McCoy and Jenny Slate of League City; sister, Rosa Guerrero of Corpus Christi; 24 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers are Ricky McCoy, Randy McCoy, Eric Diaz, Robert Diaz, Jr., Adrian Diaz, III, Marcus Diaz, Arthur Castaneda, III, Jeremy Alvarado, Michael Diaz, and Nick Rodriguez, IV.
