No Retrieval Fees for Vehicle and Boat Disaster Tows

Vehicle or boat owners who may have recently received an impound notice on behalf of the City of Galveston are advised they do NOT have to pay any fees to retrieve their vehicles or boats from the storage lot.

Recent letters mailed from Texas Auto Title & Registration Consultants Inc, under contract by the City, misstated fee and accrual charges.  Under the City’s disaster towing program, vehicles moved from Galveston streets between September 13, 2008, and January 15, 2009, will not be charged a towing fee, storage costs, or a retrieval fee.  More than 400 vehicle owners received these legal notices in the mail.  All vehicles and boats that go unclaimed will be auctioned off or destroyed.

To determine if your boat or vehicle is located at the City’s storage lot, please contact DRC by calling (228) 328-3068.  The City of Galveston is advising property owners to call DRC with any questions rather than contacting Texas Auto Title & Registration Consultants, Inc.  The City apologizes for any confusion or inconvenience.
