Ella Mae KearneyElla Mae Kearney, 79, received her reward of eternal rest on Saturday, February 14, 2009, at The Methodist Hospital of San Antonio, TX.

Ella was born June 11, 1929 in Palestine, TX to Perry and Sarah Burton Underwood. She attended school in Palestine and later went on to obtain her associate degree as a LVN. She was retried from UTMB Hospital after 39 years of service. She was a member of MT Olive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Kearney; brothers, Jodie and Bobby Underwood; sister, Doris Preston.

She is survived by her sister, Diane Underwood of Houston; nieces, Sheree Underwood, Sarah Underwood (Charles); Sharon Preston, and Reba Freeman; nephew, Daryl Preston; devoted friends, Etta Goffney and Elodie Williams; other relatives and friends

Viewing will begin Saturday February 21, 2009 at 10 AM followed by funeral service at 11:00 AM at Avenue L Baptist Church with her pastor Rev. Norris D. Burkley, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery
