Donald Earl “Bubba” Locklin

Donald Earl “Bubba” Locklin, of Galveston, Texas died Sunday, February 22, 2009.  He was born in Van Horn, Texas on March 30, 1941 to Elmer Earl and Julia Ruth Locklin.  Bubba was a longtime residence of Galveston, Texas.  He worked at ILA Local 1665 as a clerk and checker for 50 years.   He currently held the office of President of Local 1665. He also served as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps Reserves. He lived life on his terms, but was never too busy to help a person or animal in need, in the community or where ever he was.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer Earl and Julia Ruth Locklin, Granddaughter Coral Nicole Cook. 

Survived by his loving family and pet companion Pookey, his wife of 7 years, Cynthia Locklin of Galveston, Texas; his son Troy Locklin and wife Mary Locklin; daughter Paige Cook and husband Sean Cook; and three grandchildren Brandon Locklin, Morgan Cook and Emily Cook all of Galveston, Texas;  sister Jenifer Bolton husband Freddy Bolton Jr., of Freeport, Texas and their children Meredith Parker, Freddy Bolton III, Amy Bolton and Jeni Bolton.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 25, 2009 from 5pm to 7pm at St Joseph Church 22nd Ave. K Galveston, Texas 77550.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 am Thursday February 26, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 34th Broadway, Galveston, Texas 77550 with Father John Bok as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery, 10708 Hwy 6 in Santa Fe.

Pallbearers will be Troy Locklin, Sean Cook, Freddy Bolton, Jr., Freddy Bolton, III, Scott Clark and Benny Holland.

Honorary Pallbearers:  David Ritter, Don Stevens, David Tabaracci, David Jack Collier, and Louis Ripoll.
