Eddie Ray Jackson

Eddie Ray JacksonOn January 22, 1954, God blessed Rev. Watkins and Emmie Wimberly Jackson with a precious gift, Eddie Ray Jackson. Eddie was the youngest of ten children. On Saturday, February 21, 2009 at his sister’s residence in La Marque he was called home to be with the Lord.

At an early age, Eddie accepted Christ as his personal Savior. He attended public school in Galveston. He was employed with Galveston Independent School District for many years. He was well known for his photography. He loved taking beautiful pictures at his children’s sports activities and family functions. There are many frames and photo albums in Galveston County homes that have Eddie’s work in it.

Eddie is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Monroe and Jennie Jackson and Earl and Maggie Wimberly; brothers, James Monroe Jackson, Bobby Jackson and Rev. Watkins “Bubba” Jackson, Jr.; nephew, Rudy Wayne Jackson.

Eddie leaves cherished memories with his wife, Barbara Jones Jackson; sons: Reggie Jackson (Angela) of Los Angeles, CA; Eddie Jackson, Jr. of Galveston; daughters: Michelle Jackson of Durham, NC; Amber Jackson of Galveston; stepdaughter: Jasmine Maynes of Galveston; stepson: Tony Jones (Erica) of Missouri City, TX; grandson: Roman Jackson of Los Angeles, CA; four step-grandchildren; brothers, Billy Jackson; Phillip Jackson; Len Muhammad (Linda); sisters: Erma Boyd Nelson and Shirley Guyton of La Marque; Alma Holmes of Arcadia, LA; mother-in-law: Ester Jones of Galveston; sisters-in-law: Velmarine Jackson and Lula Madria of Galveston; aunts: his favorite, Clytie Washington of Galveston; Lornetta Alexander; Detroit, MI, Lisa Walker of Las Vegas, NV; Marie Washington of Indianapolis, IN; Lynn Smith of Indiana; 34 nieces and nephews; 71 great nieces and nephews; 35 great-great nieces and nephews; numerous cousins, friends and co-workers.

A Celebration of Eddie’s life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., Avenue L Baptist Church, 2612 Avenue L, Galveston, TX; Pastor Dexter Henderson, officiating and Pastor Richard Walker, eulogist. Burial will follow at Mainland Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock, TX.
