Johnease Ward
E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary

Johnease WardJohnease Ward, 80, received her reward of eternal rest on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at the Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas.

Johnease was born March 8, 1928, in Dies, Texas to the late Jim and Ida Parr Jackson. She was one of six children born unto this union.

Johnease was a resident of Galveston for over 50 years and stared her work career at UTMB in the dietary department. She would later join the Galveston Independent School District transportation department, where she retired from after 20 years of service. Johnease was also a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church for over 45 years, serving as president of Mission #2; faithful member of Senior Choir and was the founder of the Church College Scholarship Fund under the leadership of the late Rev. E. L. Gates and present pastor, Rev. Dexter A. Henderson.

Johnease was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Isaiah Ward, Sr.; and siblings: Beatrice Copes, Dorothy Boyd, McKinley Jackson, Jimmie Jackson, and Willie Jackson.

She leaves cherish memories with a very devoted son, Isaiah Ward, Jr. of Galveston; loving grandsons, John  Stephen Lister of Chattanooga, TN, and Dominique Isaac Durham of Missouri City, TX; sisters in law: Della Neal of Victorville GA; Mary Written of Monroe, LA, and Olivia Ward of Galveston; last but not least a host of devoted nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing for Johnease will begin at 5 PM on Friday March 13th followed by a wake for 7-8 PM at the Mt Moriah Missionary Baptist Church (28th & Ave K). A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday March 14, 2009, at 12:30 PM also at the church with Pastor Dexter A. Henderson officiating. She will be laid to rest in Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, TX
