Nella Del Papa Searcy, 92, of Galveston, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at Oceanview Transitional Care Center in Texas City, TX.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 14th, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Brendan Murphy as Celebrant.
Nella was born July 21, 1916, in Santa Maria del Giudice, Lucca, Italy. She came to the U.S. in 1949 and together with her husband, Roy C. Searcy, owned and operated Searcy Radio and TV Repair in Galveston for many years. Nella enjoyed reading, working in her garden, and taking care of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Searcy.
Nella is survived by her daughter, Silvia Del Papa Ferrara; son, Clifford Searcy; brothers, Gino and Oreste Genovesi, of Lucca, Italy; and Antonio Genovesi, of Caracas, Venezuela; grandchildren: John Bradford, Jr., Paul Bradford, Sharon Green, Margie Katch, Ian Searcy, and Sean Searcy; two special grandchildren: Anthony Springer and Nicole Springer; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Dr. A. Cass of UTMB, the Staff of Oceanview Transitional Care Center in Texas City, and A-Med Community Hospice for their excellent care.
Memorials may be made in Nella’s name to any Hospice organization.
