Richard “Dick” Thomas, Jr.
Carnes Brothers Funeral Home

Richard “Dick” Thomas, Jr. age 65 of Galveston died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Gulf Health Care Center in Texas City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 9:00 am until service time Saturday.

Born January 7, 1944 in Galveston, Texas to Richard Thomas, Sr. and Stella James Thomas, Richard was retired from Model Laundry. He was a member of Galveston Community Church and was loved by his family and many friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, and his grandmother, Corine James, survivors include his wife, Verdia Thomas; daughters, Yolanda Thomas, and Wanda Thomas all of Galveston and Diane Irving and husband David of Dallas; a sister, Willie Mae Thomas; brothers, Leonard Thomas, Henry Thomas, Charles Thomas and wife Brenda all of Galveston, and Johnny Thomas of Houston; former wife and mother of his children, Mary Thomas of Dallas; devoted sister in law, Debhorah Thomas and   nephew, Shannon Thomas both of Galveston; 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
