Mary L. Galvan, 83, of Galveston, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at her residence.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Monday, March 30th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 31st, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Samuel Alvarado officiating. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston.
Mary was born February 16, 1926, in Thomasson, Texas. She was ordained as a minister at St. Raymond Divine Spiritual Church of Christ on June 26, 1966. Mary believed strongly in helping others, no matter what they needed. She was a loving wife and homemaker and her family was the center of her life.
Mary was preceded in death by her daughters, Yolanda Harsh, Guadalupe Casas, and Dolores Galvan-Lopez; and all of her siblings.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Felix Galvan; daughter, Sylvia Galvan; sons, Jimmy Ramirez, Isidro Ramirez and wife, Mary, Jesse Hernandez, Louis Galvan, Sr., and Felix Galvan, Jr.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rene Ramirez, Sr., Matt Ramirez, Sr., Rene Ramirez, Jr., Marcos Gomez, Jr., Ysidro Ramirez, Jr., and David Castillon. Louis Galvan, Sr. will be an honorary pallbearer.
Mary’s family wishes to express their deep appreciation for Mary’s lifelong friends, Linda Pena and Chavela Valdez, for their time and loving care for Mary’s family during these past weeks.
