Elmer J. Simmers
Malloy & Son Funeral Home

Elmer J. SimmersElmer J. Simmers, 84, of Natrona Heights, PA, passed away Friday, March 27, 2009, at Alle-Kiski Medical Center in Natrona Heights, PA.

The family will receive visitors after 5:00 pm, Wednesday, April 1st, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.  A rosary will conclude the evening at 6:45 pm, led by Deacon Sam Dell’Olio.

Funeral Mass will be 9:30 am, Thursday, April 2nd, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque with Father Chacko Puthumayil as Celebrant.  Burial will follow the service at Grace Memorial Park in Santa Fe.

Elmer was born January 27, 1925, in Harrison Township, PA.  He lived his entire life in Natrona Heights, PA, working as an assembly line glass worker for PPG Industries in Creighton, PA, for 41 years, retiring in 1983.  Elmer was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Navy and was of the Methodist faith.  He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirate fan.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Georgia Ann (Rodriguez) Simmers in 2004; brothers, Edward, Earl, and Robert Simmers; and sisters: Margaret Rummell, Alice Lucas, Loretta Betosh, Dorothy Davis, and Della Wissinger.

He is survived by his sons, Jim Simmers and Albert J. Simmers, both of Santa Fe, TX; daughters, Jo Ann Simmers and Mary J. McBurney and husband, Danial, of Tarentum, PA; grandsons, Daniel J. McBurney and wife, Jodi, of Jeannette, PA and Robert A. McBurney and wife, Lee Ann, of Natrona, PA; granddaughters, Nicole Kay Martinez and husband, James, of Maryland, Leslie L. Ely and husband, Kenneth, of Indianapolis, IN; and Colleen Bixler and husband, Raymond, of Brackenridge, PA; great grandsons, Eric Walton, of Brackenridge, PA and Andrew McBurney; great granddaughter, Alya Martinez; and great grandson, Nicholas Ely.

Pallbearers will be Jim Molina, Robert Molina, Bill Rodriguez, Phillip Rodriguez, Dan McBurney, and Gene Garcia.
