Katherine Ruth Hergesell Crump passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 24 at Cleveland Regional Hospital in Cleveland, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Wilma, Bertha, Adeline, Henrietta, Frederick, and Milton, and a daughter, Frances Ruth Crump.  She is survived by her sister, Ethel Mae Jarrett, of Montgomery, Alabama.  She also leaves behind a multitude of nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews and friends.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Katherine spent her adult life working for the Galveston County Welfare Office.  She loved to work and continued to walk to work until she was almost 80 years old.   She was also very proud of being a BOI and a life-long resident of Galveston.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, March 27, 2009, at First Lutheran Church, 2415 Winnie in Galveston, with Pastor Doug Guthier officiating.  Burial will follow at Oleander Cemetery, 42nd & Broadway, in Galveston.   

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Jarrett, Joe Dietz, Bob Munce, Sam Marshall, Henry Coltzer and Robert Locke.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Abilene State School Volunteer Services Council, PO Box 451, Abilene, TX  79604.
