Thomas E. Leigh, Jr. “T J”On January 14, 1982, Thomas Leigh, Sr. and Dedra Randall were blessed with the birth of a beloved son, Thomas E. Leigh, Jr.. “TJ” as he was lovingly called by family and friends attended Galveston schools and in 2001 graduated from his beloved Ball High School. In 1999, “TJ” began a battle with leukemia and for 10 long years, TJ fought this dreaded disease, all while pursuing a degree in business at Galveston College. In addition to attending classes and his battle with cancer, “TJ” found time to work 2 jobs and ultimately fulfilled his dream of starting TLeigh2 Production Company just months before his passing.

He was a very unselfish child, often thinking of other before himself. His love for children and family gave him such great joy, because family was very important to him and that allowed him to put his volunteer spirit into action by serving other when many thought he should be the one being served.

During his final days he was surrounded by his loving family and they were able to give him his flowers while he yet lived. As his father reflect about his life, he says, “I just don’t see him just as a son, but as a man, a strong man, just like his grandfather.”

On March 18, 2009, young 9 CTJ” went home to receive eternal rest. His life was short but full and his earthly family was blessed to have him for 27 wonderful years.

“TJ” was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gladys Randall; uncle, Michael Leigh; godmother, Sally Abston; great grandparents, Hazel and Steve Sanders, and Ulysess Payton.

His life’s legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of family, father, Thomas Leigh, Sr.; mother, Dedra Randall; brothers, Richard Leigh (Cherrish), Christopher Randall (Jennie); grandparents, Rev. Ira Leigh, Sr. (Bernice), Glorias Leigh- August; aunts, Sandra Young (Otis), Beverly Leigh Douglas, Tina Priestly, Terri Leigh, Gladys George- Bentley, Catherine Compton ; uncles; Ira Leigh (Rosalin), Ronald Leigh (Marie), Kenneth Leigh (Sherrie), Lenard Leigh, Len Terry Leigh, Ray Foster (Pam), Jimmy Randall (Marsha); niece, Shania Leigh; numerous god-brothers and sisters and godchildren, cousins, friends, and supporters.

Visitation will begin at 4 PM on Friday, March 27th followed by a wake form 7-8 PM at St John Baptist Church(2917 Sealy). A service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday March 28th also at the church with Rev. Lois Simpson Jr. Pastor, his pastor Rev. Norris D Burkley Sr. eulogist. He will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery.
