H-GAC will host the Region’s first introduction of Texas Parks & Wildlife Department's (TPWD) Conservation and Recreation Forum process on April 23rd at 2:00 pm. A first task of these forums is to solicit and to provide input into the TPWD’s strategic plan, The Land and Water Resources Conservation and Recreation Plan (LWRCRP). The LWRCRP was developed to guide the Department in conserving the state’s natural and historic heritage and in providing public access to the outdoors. This comprehensive strategic plan specifically addresses conservation of land and water resources and recreation on land and water and is currently being updated. Besides guiding TPWD, this plan is directly tied to Federal funding through the National Park Service. Ms. Rebecca Hensley, TPWD Region 7 Forum Leader, will explain the purpose, timeline and process for participation, present draft goals and answer questions.
TPWD will establish ten regional Conservation and Recreation Forums in order to facilitate two-way communication on issues related to the conservation and management of the state's natural, cultural and recreational resources. The forums are organized along major watershed boundaries and will include representatives of TPWD-partner organizations, governments, and other stakeholders. The H-GAC region is included in two forums: the Lower Trinity-San Jacinto and the Lower Brazos.
I’d encourage you to download a copy of the 2005 version of the agency’s Land and Water Resources Conservation and Recreation Plan (LWRCRP) at http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/pwdpubs/pwd_pl_e0100_0867/ to gain an understanding of its scope. Meeting details are as follows.
