Anita Louise WalkerAnita Louise Walker, 70, of Galveston passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Cornerstone Hospital of Houston in Webster, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, April 6, 2009 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints, 3114 - 77th Street in Galveston with Bishop Ferdinand Velasco, officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, 1201 Tremont in Galveston. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home at 5:00 pm on Sunday, April 5, 2009 with a wake to be held from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. An additional viewing will be held at 10:00 am at the Church on Monday morning.

Anita was born May 29, 1938 in Broussard, Louisiana to Mitchell Ball, Sr. and Nellie Marie Roy Ball. She graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1957  and  attended Galveston College and received her Nurses Aid Certificate. She worked at UTMB for 24 years as a unit clerk in the Recovery Room at UTMB. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack Walker and son. Archie Lee Harvey, Jr. Anita is succeeded by her grandchildren, Daniel Thomas, Sr. and wife Toni, Tiesha Harvey and Archie Harvey, III; great grandchildren, Daniel “Doo Little” Thomas, Jr., Danielle “Baby Sister” Thomas and Schnell; sisters, Shirley Ball White and husband, Oliver, Patsy Ball, Margaret Hobson, Elizabeth Ward, Carolyn White, Gwendolyn Ball; brothers, Robert E. Ball, Mitchell P. Ball, Jr. and wife, Regina, Charles E. Ball, Anthony L. Ball and John Henry Ball; aunts, Hazel Jones of Port Arthur and Florence Washington of Broussard, Louisiana; beloved former husband, Archie Lee Harvey, Sr.; numerous other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers will be Marcus Ball, Kevin Ball, Alex Hickerson, Paul Mouton, John Raymond Jones and Glenn Washington. Honorary pallbearers are Dorius Redding, Anthony Ball, Jr., Andre DuPree, Ryan Ball, John Ball and Marlon Jones.
