Ethel Turner

Ethel TurnerEthel Turner, 71, received her reward of eternal rest on Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Webster.

She was born on May 7, 1937, in New Orleans, LA, to Ralph and Amy Turner. She attended Central High School in Galveston and was formerly employed as a cook for the Galveston Children Center and the Ursuline Convent before retiring. She was a member of St. Paul Methodist and later joined Sunlight Baptist Church and most recent First Union.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Michael Turner; sisters, Ida Browning; granddaughter, Ebony Shinette, and nephew, Theodore "Teddy" Turner.

Those left to cherish precious memories are her sons, Larry Turner; Curtis Turner (Giovanna), and Ricky Turner (Rebecca) ; daughters, Tonni Johnson and Donna Gaines (Andre); 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brothers, Ralph Turner, Jr. (Brenda), and Charles F. Turner (Faye); devoted friend, Julius Braziel; daughter in law, Bessie Turner; best friends, Barbara Anders, Mary Chaney and Margaret Josey; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Special thanks to the staffs of UTMB, Mainland, and Triumph Hospitals, Regency Village and Texas Home Health for your care of our mother.

Viewing will begin at 5 PM on Friday, April 3rd followed by a wake from 7-8 PM at First Union Baptist Church (11th & Ave. K). A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 4, 2009, also at the church with Pastor David L. Everson, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
