Houston City Council today voted to approve an amendment to the project plan and reinvestment zone financing plan for Reinvestment Zone No. 5, also known as the Memorial-Heights Zone.
This is the third amendment to the plan for the reinvestment zone.
"This proposed third amended plan is needed to facilitate the development of Regents Square, a planned 4 million square foot mixed-use development located in the vicinity of Dunlavy Street between Allen Parkway and Dallas Street, and includes provisions for pedestrian amenities, roadways, streetscape improvements, and other public infrastructure upgrades, system expansions, and relocations," Finance Director Michelle Mitchell said.
Mitchell said the goals of the project plan remain unchanged, but that costs will increase due to the amendment.
"Overall, the non-educational project costs will increase $17.610 million, including $6.61 million for affordable housing," Mitchell said.
The city council voted to approve the purchase of dispatch consoles and workstations for the Houston Police Department from the State of Texas Procurement and Support Services Contract.
"The Houston Police Department intends to implement a workplace management solution to facilitate more effective operations by relocating the Houston Police Department Emergency Communication Division Teleserve Unit from 61 Riesner to the Houston Emergency Center, located at 5320 N. Shepherd," City Purchasing Agent Calvin Wells said.
The city council voted to confirm the appointments of Council Member Wanda Adams as the city council designee and Jia Wen Peter NG to the Deferred Compensation Advisory Committee.
The city council voted to designate Audubon Place Historic District as a City Historic District.
Several items were tagged, or delayed for one week, by various members of the city council.
Award of an $833,168 bid from GTSI, Corporation for hardware, software, maintenance and installation services for the Department of Public Works and Engineering was tagged by Jolanda Jones.
Award of a $119,188 bid from Hewlett-Packard Company for hardware, software and maintenance support for the Department of Public Works and Engineering was tagged by Jones.
An ordinance appropriating $756,884 from the Equipment Acquisition Consolidated Fund for purchase of medium and heavy-duty cabs and chassis and truck bodies for various departments was tagged by Anne Clutterbuck and Toni Lawrence.
Award of bids in the amount of $603,017 from Tommie Vaughn Motors, Inc.; $395,110 from Philpott Ford and Philpott Toyota and $75,997 from Lone Star Chevrolet for the purchase of the medium and heavy-duty cabs and chassis and truck bodies was tagged by Clutterbuck and Lawrence.
A recommendation from the Director of the Public Works and Engineering Department to approve a request from Mario Escobedo for the sale of approximately 6,420 square feet of city-owned right-of-way at Fulton Street was delayed for two weeks by Melissa Noriega.
