Consuelo “Sue” MendozaConsuelo “Sue” Mendoza, 83, of Galveston, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at UTMB Hospital.

Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, April 18th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Niall Nolan officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors after 5:00 pm, Friday, April 17th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.  A rosary will be held at 6:30 pm, led by Deacon John Pistone.

Sue was born May 26, 1925, in Galveston, Texas.  She attended Ball High School and spent over 25 years working at American National Insurance Company (ANICO), where she retired as a supervisor in the Actuary Department.  Sue’s greatest joys in life were her husband Robert, family, friends, and her grandchildren.  She was happiest spending time with her sisters and friends, playing cards and taking trips.  Over the years, Sue made many extended friendships through her association with the Giovanni Club and the Xochital Club. 

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Carmen Peralta; sister, Rosie Vasquez; and brother, Louis Peralta.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Mendoza; children: Rose Marie Mendoza; Bobby Mendoza and wife, Felicia; sisters, Helen Luna; Gloria Peralta; and Hope Lopez; aunt, Mary Alice Hults; grandchildren: Sarah Philips; Hollie Mendoza; Rob Mendoza; and Victoria Alba; great grandchildren: Chloe and Camille; brothers-in-law, Bunte Cavasos, and Rafael Mendoza and wife, Lela; sister-in-law, Adela Duran; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Pallbearers will be Raul Castro, Rob Mendoza, Claude Stevens, Andrew Luna, Randy Wilder, and Randall Lane.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Pelosi and Bunte Cavasos.

Sue’s family wishes to extend special thanks to her Sigma caregivers, Ronnie, Phil, Shawntal, and Sharon, and to Dr. Maria Camacho, Andrea, Marci and Cynthia of the Geriatric Center at UTMB.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2242 W. Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030.
