Audition for summer musical at COM
Open auditions for Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance will be held Sunday May 10 at 1:30 p.m. and Monday, May 11 at 7 p.m. at the COM Community Theatre. The musical runs July 16 to August 9. For more details, call 409-938-1211 or 888-258-8859, ext. 345.

May mini session deadline May 15
The registration deadline for the spring mini session at COM is May 15.

Classes offered include college algebra, graphic arts, digital video, art direction, American music, British Literature, government, microcomputer applications, and reading improvement. The three-week session runs from May 18 to June 5. For more information, call 409-938-1211, ext. 264.

COM Wellness Center golf tournament May 28
The College of the Mainland leisure activity and wellness center will hold its fifth annual golf tournament Thursday, May 28 at the Bayou Golf Club in Texas City. Funds raised at the tournament will be used for COM scholarships. Team packages and individual golfer registration information can be found online at www.com.edu/wellness. Developmental reading class offered in mini session
Students who want to move through developmental reading in three weeks rather than a full 16-week semester can enroll in the May mini session at College of the Mainland by May 15. The classes meet Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. beginning May 18. Cinco de Mayo Celebration
College of the Mainland will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo May 5 from 6-9 p.m. in the Student Center. Guest speaker will be Guadalupe C. Quintanilla, who will be discussing community involvement and positive attitudes. There will also be a Mariachi Band, dancing, food, an art display and door prizes.
