Abner "Smokey" Addison, Jr.


Abner "Smokey" Addison, Jr., Abner "Smokey" Addison, Jr., 83, passed away from this earthly life on Friday, May 15, 2009, at his residence in Galveston, TX.  Smokey as he was lovingly called by all that knew him, was born June 7, 1925, to the late Abner and Dora Addison, in Angleton, Texas.  Abner was a WWII Veteran who served his country in the U S Army.  Abner worked as a laborer at Todd Shipyard, until his retirement.  After his retirement he enjoyed feeding the birds and watching his beloved baseball. 

Abner was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tommy Lewis Addison; brothers, Eugene and William Addison, Sr.; sister, Albertha Dean.

He leaves to cherish memories of his life; daughter, Nijel Russell of Texas City; son, Mack Harrison of College Station; sisters in law, Evelyn Addison, Emma Johnson, Lois Perry; nieces, Rhonda Pierre, Wanda Sikes, Cheryl Addison, Denita Perry; nephews, Anthony Dean, William, Jr., Carl Ray, Darnell, Vernon, Wendell, Gary, and Ronald Addison, and Deon Perry; very special friends, Georgia Granville, Eddie, and Morris.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at 11:00 am at Blue Lake Cemetery in Angleton, Texas with Rev. Jesse Trotter, officiating.
