Carolyn Bess Keyes Gardner, 64, died Monday, May 11, at her home in Las Vegas, Nevada where she resided approximately 34 years. Her death resulted from complications of heart disease and diabetes. Carolyn moved from Galveston with her daughter, Brenda, and her mother, Carolyn Cooke Keyes, in 1975. While living in Galveston she was a faithful employee of the Lipton Tea Company and was employed by the Flamingo Hilton after her arrival in Las Vegas. Once again she was an exemplary employee for 30 years until she retired shortly before her death. Carolyn was a very kind person—her greatest act being that of adopting and rearing her autistic nephew. It was only upon her retirement that she allowed others to care for him.
Carolyn is survived by her beloved daughter, Brenda Gardner, and her precious granddaughter, Chelsea Moser; brother, Kenneth Keyes; and nephew, Zigfried Keyes; and remembered by the Gardner family, John, Mary Bridget and Michael.
Services will be Thursday, May 21, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston, Texas. Private viewing will be from 10 am until 11 am. A prayer service will begin at 11 am immediately followed by a Christian burial at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock.
May the angels lead you into Paradise.
May the martyrs come to welcome you and take you to the Holy City,
The new and eternal Jerusalem.
May choirs of angels welcome you and lead you to the bosom of Abraham.
