News Release
Friday, May 22, 2009

SPC Ray Joseph Hutchinson BAY AREA HOUSTON, Texas - The Ray Joseph Hutchinson Foundation’s 5th Annual Salute to Heroes Reception will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2009, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., in the Crystal Ballroom of the South Shore Harbour Resort, in honor of those who have served or are serving in our Armed Forces, and to raise scholarship money for the Ray Joseph Hutchinson Foundation benefiting Clear Creek Independent School District (CCISD) students.

This patriotic and heartfelt event is a special evening where our community can gather together in friendship, honor the Military, bid on the wonderful Live and Silent Auction items, and celebrate Ray Joseph Hutchinson’s life.

There are men and women who are destined to make a difference in people’s lives, and through their courage, beliefs, and service to others, become an inspiration. Ray Joseph Hutchinson was such a man. On December 7, 2003, Ray Joseph was added to the long and distinguished list of the world’s valiant heroes. Although his lifespan was only 20 years, his actions as a soldier, a son, and a friend, will go on to motivate others through the shining example of his own life.

Since 2004, there have been twenty-three (23) Ray Joseph Hutchinson Foundation scholarships awarded totaling $60,000.00. A scholarship from the Ray Joseph Hutchinson Foundation is not based on academics, nor does the RJH Foundation direct the applicants into any particular field of study. Selected winners are chosen on personal merit, need, and willingness to project the unselfish dedication to making this world a better place, as they base their goals to do this on the inspiration of the life of SPC Ray Joseph Hutchinson.  The Ray Joseph Hutchinson Foundation is in the business of making this world a better place, now, and for the future.

State Representative Larry Taylor will be the Master of Ceremonies and Galveston County Judge Jim Yarbrough will be the Auctioneer. One of the highlights of the evening will be an exciting live auction you will not want to miss! One of the live auction items will be a $4,700.00 Vacation Package good for international or domestic destinations.

In addition to the incredible Live Auction items, there will be a variety of excellent Silent Auction items and Raffle prizes. Raffle tickets may be purchased at HomeTown Bank of League City, Star Toyota, Black Rose Steel, AMOCO Federal Credit Union, First Community Bank in Webster, and the South Shore Harbour Resort.  Five tickets may be purchased for $20.00, or individually sold for $5.00 each.

Admission tickets will be sold in advance with the ticket price of $25.00, and the ticket price will be $30.00 at the door. To reserve tickets, purchase your tickets by credit card, buy raffle tickets, or for more information, please call Cathy Cheatham at 281-334-1000, extension 2038, Jenna O'Neal at 281-332-7673 or Bette Specion at 281-332-3961.
