Hi. I’m Pat Patton. I have a very exciting and multi-talented guest - Emmy and Telly award winner, Nellie Gonzalez. Nellie is a Television Star, a television show host, an actor in both feature films and television shows, and an award winning writer and producer. Listen: RealPlayer MP3
Nellie is currently the host and co-producer of CBS KHOU Channel 11’s “Houstonisimo” a show that embraces the diverse Latin community in Houston, and is also a guest host for “Great Day Houston”. She will also be working with Debra Duncan on “Great Day Houston” talking about events that are happening around town.
Prior to this interview, Nellie and I had modeled for the Hope Village Zen of Fashion Luncheon and Fashion Show and we had so much fun!! As you will find out from our interview, being involved in numerous charitable organizations is a big part of Nellie’s life.
Nellie started her career as a young actor working in commercials and runway, and soon grew into her own television show “OndaTejana,” a show dedicated to Tejano music. She then progressed to hosting syndicated television shows “TV TV,” a variety music show, and “Get Out” a travel show of US cities and things to do while there.
Nellie not only has a very impressive regional presence, she has done many national level projects as well. She has had featured roles on television shows such as “24,”with Keifer Sutherland, “Crossing Jordan,” “NCIS,” and “Friday Night Lights”, and has been in such feature films as “Rocketman,” and “The Clean and Narrow,” which she also lined produced, and “Triple Cross” in which she had a lead. She has worked in both English and Spanish markets.
Nellie is also an award winning writer and producer with her 35 millimeter short film “Ink on Paper,” which took first place at the Worldfest and Flagstaff Film Festivals, and was screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
Nellie just shot a series of commercial spots for the National franchise J.D.Byrider, who also works with champion Nascar driver Tony Stewart, and Kirk Kinser of the World of OutLaws. The campaign is called Good Day Byrider with Nellie Gonzalez.
To me, one of the most important aspects about Nellie’s career is her passion and commitment to making a difference and being involved in numerous charitable organizations like the Star of Hope Mission, L.R.C, Gulf Coast Blood Center, Toys for Tots, Boy Scouts of America, Kidney Foundation, American Heart Association, and Laura Recovery Center. Nellie has a big heart, and loves to share her time, her talents, and her life experiences to make someone’s life better.
One of the goals of my interviews is to focus on accomplishing dreams and living lives of excellence. Although Nellie’s beauty, vitality, and love of life are the first things you notice about her, you then discover that Nellie is also a wonderful role model who thrives on changes and challenges, and proves that with hard work, determination, and never giving up, that dreams really do come true.
