Juanita “the Rutter’’ Martin passed away June 21, 2009. Juanita was born on January 12,1997 in Galveston Texas. She was the youngest of four children. Juanita lived in Galveston all her life and loved hanging around her older sisters, Annie and Janet, and her beloved brother Joel. She also liked listening to her CD’s and singing to them all day long for the both of her sisters. She also loved swimming and going to school. Juanita may be gone but we will never forget her pretty smile and beautiful voice and the way she made us laugh.

Survivors include her father, Don E. Martin, mother, Connie Moreno; sisters Annie V. Moreno, Janet Martin; five brothers, Even Jones, Don Martin Jr., Joel A. Moreno, Laurence Martin, “Fat Albert”; grandmother Eva Moreno; aunts Marisol Moreno, Sylvia Moreno, Alice Greer, Sarah Greer, Rosie Ramos, Janice Brown; uncles Leonard Moreno, Juan Moreno, Kevin Pete, all the friends she left behind and numerous cousins.

Viewing will begin today at 5:00 PM followed by a wake from 7-8 PM at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary. A service of remembrance for Juanita will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 28, 2009, at the West Point Baptist Church (3003 Ave. M), Rev. Kerry W. Tillmon Pastor, Rev. Steven Gasaway officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
