On May 15, 1924, a beautiful baby girl was born to Walter and Mammie Webb Dixon of Grimes County, Texas. The name given to her was Margaret, who was the youngest of six children. At the age of three, Margaret was rear by her parent’s dear sister and brother in Christ, Virginia Dickson (known as Jennie Bell) and husband Loftin, until she graduated from school as valedictorian of her class. Margaret was blessed with two mother and two fathers. She asked her mother (Virginia) to nickname her Topsie, which she was known by all of her family and friends.
She later moved to Galveston with her husband, Nathaniel Kennie. She was a member of First Union Baptist Church for over 68 years and also was a member of White Rose Grand Chapter O.E.S..
Topsie received her reward of eternal rest on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at her residence.
Waiting for her to join them in heaven are both sets of her parents; husband; three sisters and one brother.
