Friendswood Independent School District
Board of Trustees

The Friendswood Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to extend the contract of Superintendent Trish Hanks for another year.

Trustee Rebecca Hillenburg said the board as a whole was "extremely pleased" with Hanks' leadership. Trustee Mike Shaw stated that "the community continues to enjoy the superintendent's guidance".

The school board voted unanimously to approve the repair of the Girls Gym wall at Friendswood Junior High as a change order to the the junior high's bond projects.

The school board voted unanimously to authorize Bay Architects to being work on athletic fields in the district. The work is funded through a bond issue approved in 2007.

"Bay Architects will begin planning the remodel of the football stadium, the upgrades and remodel of the baseball and softball fields, and the construction of practice soccer fields on the district property next to the Ag Barn," Hanks said.

The school board voted unanimously to approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price at $2.223 million for renovation work at Westwood Elementary. A Guaranteed Maximum Price had been set previously by the school board, but did not include alternate items in the bid.

"The Alternate Bids that were not taken during the May 2009 Board meeting will now be presented again for approval," Hanks said.

The school board voted unanimously to endorse Stuart Stromeyer, president of the Clear Creek Independent School District Board of Trustees, to fill a position on the Texas Association of School Boards' Board of Directors for Region 4.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
