Geraldine LeBlanc-Lovely

Geraldine LeBlanc-LovelyGeraldine LeBlanc-Lovely, 73, left her earthly home on July 20, 2009.  Ms. Jerry was born to  Ethel Mae Lovely and Athian Le Blanc on February 24, 1935, in Beaumont TX..  She united with Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor T. J. Anderson and remained an active member there, under the leadership of Pastor A.W. Colbert, until her health began to fail.

A born leader, in 1954 Ms. Lovely was one of the first five African Americans to integrate Lamar Tech now known as Lamar University in Beaumont, TX..  She later went on to graduate from Bishop College with her Bachelors Degree of Sociology and from Prairie View with her Masters of Guidance and Counseling.  In 1975 she was the first African American on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers and Sisters of Galveston County. She loved kids and truly believed in education.  She worked for many years with the Galveston Neighborhood Youth Corp.  She retired from BP Amoco in 1989 after 27 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lawrence Johnson; step- father- Talmadge Jones, two sisters- Lynn Gail Jones and Sandra Hadnot, three brothers- Joseph LeBlanc, Calvin Jones and Riley “Kent” Jones. 

Left to cherish fond memories is her daughter, Brenda K. LeBlanc of LaMarque, TX and her devoted nephew/son, Clyde Sigerts (Karen) of Texas City TX., three brothers, Larry R. Jones (Rhoda) of Beaumont, TX., Athian Martin LeBlanc and Edward Peter LeBlanc of Dallas, TX; sisters, Ruby M. Sigerts of Texas City, TX., Donna Maxwell of Houston, TX. and Lisa Bacon of Dallas, TX; God children, Trovey Harrison, Brianna Lewis, Dorothy T. Johnson and Justin Kyle Perry; adopted children, Elloitte Terry, Michelle Jenkins, Monica Jones, and “her Mother’s only sibling” Ms. Hattie Louise Carouthers-West of Beaumont, TX., special cousins Leroy Broussard and LeAnna Brown, devoted niece O. Marie Rogers and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Celebratory services will be held Saturday July 25, 2009 at 10 AM at Macedonia Baptist Church located at 2912 Ave. M 1/2 Galveston, TX. 77550.  There will be a viewing at the church from 9am until service time.  The family will be leaving immediately after the service for Beaumont, TX where there will be a viewing from 2:30 to 3pm at Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church located at 710 IH 10 East, Beaumont, TX. 77703. Internment to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Beaumont, TX..
