Pat's very first interview for Guidry News Service, on a column she called Table 53, was with Emyre Barrios Robinson. Listen: RealPlayer MP3
My Table 53 interview is with Emy Barrios Robinson, an outstanding community leader and volunteer in the Bay Area.
Just a few of her many honors include the University of Houston Distinguished Alumni Award and the Girl Scout's 1997 Woman of Distinction.
Emy was one of the prominent volunteers honored at the 1998 Men and Women of Heart Gala, and in May 2002, she was honored at the American Heart Association Celebration of Heart Salute to America Gala for her many contributions to the Bay Area community.
Emy also serves on the board of directors of many outstanding organizations.
Emy is a true role model for any woman and a perfect choice for the Women of Excellence interviews.
Emy was motivated to go back to college with the support of her husband and four children.
In 1980, after working for years as an associate technical editor and a business manager for Kentron International, Emy was the driving force behind the founding of Barrios Technology, Inc. and was the majority owner, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer.
Emy's overwhelming success with Barrios Technology won Barrios many awards and much recognition. She found herself on various TV programs including Good Morning America.
Emy began a new career as a motivational speaker where she shared her enthusiasm, knowledge and strong belief in education and has motivated thousands of women over the years.
Emy is also a world traveler with a variety of experiences. Emy's dedication to the Bay Area community is well known and her love of life, enthusiasm and sense of fun and adventure makes her the perfect choice for our Women of Excellence interview.
