She was a lifelong resident of Galveston, where she attended public school and Galveston College and was a CNA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Charles Himes, Sr.; sister, Thelma Daniels and brother, Timothy Phillips. She is survived by her children: Vincent, Robert, Demedra, and Jerold Hime; sisters: Velma Batts (Jessie), Margarite Lemons, Eddie Finley, Rosalind Ross (Curley); brothers: Charles, Jr., Standifer (Toni), Douglas, Reginald and Edward Himes; 6 grandchildren; devoted friend, Eugene Johnson; host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 4PM on Monday, July 27, 2009, followed by funeral service at 6:00 PM in chapel of E R Johnson Family Mortuary with Rev. Harold Block officiating. Burial will be held Tuesday, July 28th at 9AM in Lakeview Cemetery.
