Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Brazoria County Commissioners Court on Tuesday voted to approve a memorandum of support for the Port of Freeport to receive funding through the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery Grant.

The grant funds are available through the United States Department of Transportation from federal stimulus funds to provide "capital investments in surface transportation infrastructure projects that will have a significant impact on the nation, a metropolitan area, or a region".

The projects can include improvements to port infrastructure, according to the Department of Transportation's web site.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to appoint Patrick Henry to the Scoring Committee.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve an extension of the completion date of a contract with the Texas General Land Office for the San Luis Pass Inlet Management Plan, Phase 3.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve an application to the Houston-Galveston Area Council for Solid Waste Implementation Grant funding in partnership with the Master Gardeners Association.

Following the meeting, the commissioners court held a workshop to discuss an intergovernmental agreement with the Houston-Galveston Area Council, and for the county's 2009-2010 Fiscal Year Budget.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
