Myra Jean Coveney, nee Dockal, was born in Galveston, Texas on March 9, 1936, and died July 18, 2009, after an extended illness.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Coveney; one son, Richard Wade McGaffey; three stepdaughters: Morgan Avery, Terrye Coveney, and Regina Coveney; one brother, Neal Henry Dockal; one aunt, Laverne Berg; numerous cousins; and lifelong friend, June Abraham.
Myra attended Ball High School and graduated from Dominican High School in 1953. She moved to Savannah, Georgia in 1975 and was employed by Chatham County Tax Commissioner’s Office, retiring in 1994. Myra was a member of Wilmington Island United Methodist Church in Savannah and Zion Lutheran Church in Galveston.
Myra’s family will receive visitors after 8:00 am, Saturday, August 1st at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home followed by burial at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
