Edith "Mama" Randolph, 104, received her reward to join the celestial choir on August 12, 2009 in Houston, Texas.
"Mama" Randolph was born July 2, 1905, in Crockett, TX to John, Sr. and Lizzie Randolph. She graduate from Crockett High School and attended Mary Allen College of Crockett and Prairie View A&M, where she received her degree in education. She retired after teaching some 18 years. She would later move to Galveston in 1947 and remained there until moving to Houston with her niece.
Preceding her in death was her parents; son, Robert H. Spurlock; four sisters and three brothers.
Left behind to cherish memories are her nieces: Sherrian Epps Wilkerson, Virgie Daniels, Lizzie Rucker, Hattie Livingston, Almeda Wheeler, Reva Garner, Lou Willie, and Lori Epps; Doris, and Daisy Jackson; nephews: John F., Wayne H., and James Epps, Jr.; sister in law: Ardie Dell Randolph; along with a host of great, and great great nieces and nephews, church family and friends.
Visitation will held on Saturday, August 22, 2009, at the Sunlight Baptist Church from 9:30 AM until 11 AM, in which the family and friends will commence to celebrate her life with Pastor A. C. Tryon officiating. She will laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery.
