Brian Michael Simmons

Brian Michael SimmonsBrian Michael Simmons, 23, departed this life on August 14, 2009, at Mainland Medical Center.

Brian was born May 1, 1986, in Galveston, where he attended public school and was a 2004 graduate of Ball High School. He was employed at Luby's as a cook and in Hospitality at UTMB. He was a lifelong member of St Luke Baptist Church, where he served as the drummer for the music department. He loved music and playing basketball.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruth Simmons and cousin, James Jackson, Jr..

Left to cherish memories is his mother and stepfather: Ada and Tommy Dawson; brothers: Rodney Hudson, Jr. and Jordan Simmons; grandparents: Patsy Linscomb, Pastor Frank and Linda Celestine; uncles: Frank Celestine, Jr., Larry Herring; aunts; Donna Singleton, La Tonya Harvey, Ashley Celestine, Michelle Capes, Kim Temple (Mark) and Jamie Rougeaux; devoted great aunts and uncles: Mr. and Mrs. James Jackson, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Warren Butler and Daniel Simmons, Jr.; god parents: Constance and Neil Norfleet: devoted fiancé: Ilia Fletcher; devoted cousins: Keelan and Desmond Singleton; mother in law: Sandra Hightower;  brothers in law: James Jones and Kenneth Hightower; host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 5 PM on Friday, August 21st at the St. Luke Baptist Church followed by a wake from 7-8 PM. A service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 22, 2009, also at the St. Luke church with Pastor Charles E. Wheat officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
