Brazoria County
Pearland City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Pearland City Council on Monday held public hearings to consider the Fiscal Year 2009-2010 Budget and 2009 proposed tax rate, which remains unchanged from its current rate of $0.6526 per $100 valuation.

The proposed rate is below the rollback rate of $0.669486 per $100 valuation. Adopting a rate exceeding the rollback rate allows for citizens to file a petition to "roll back" the tax rate.

The effective rate, or the rate required to generate revenues equal to the current fiscal year, is $0.65049 per $100 valuation.

The city council held a special meeting to discuss appointments to the city's various boards and commissions. The item was discussed in executive session. No action was taken on the item.

The city council will hold its next regular meeting on August 31. Agenda
