LIT Dental Hygiene Clinic provides services for low cost
BEAUMONT – The Lamar Institute of Technology Dental Hygiene clinic is open and ready to serve the public with basic dental hygiene services at a low cost.
With everyone looking for ways to economize, preventative dental care may go by the wayside. That may only lead to serious dental and health problems down the line, though.
“A proper oral health care routine, along with regular visits to your dentist, can help promote a healthy mouth and a healthy body,” said Patti Parrott, registered dental hygienist and program director of dental hygiene at LIT. “The signs and symptoms of many diseases appear in the mouth first.”
Services offered include dental exams, cleanings, screenings for oral cancer, dental x-rays, fluoride treatments, education, sealants and nutritional counseling. Students in the LIT Dental Hygiene program provide the services. They are supervised by instructors and a dentist is on staff.
Fees are $25 for the general public, $15 for senior citizens aged 64 and older, $10 for those on public assistance and $10 for x-rays only.
The dental hygiene clinic is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to noon, and on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. To make an appointment, call (409) 880-8860.
