Hope Henrietta Lopez, 80, of Galveston, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2009, at UTMB Hospital.

Her family will receive visitors at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 17^th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM with Hope’s cousin, Al Fuentes, leading the service. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Hope was born May 26, 1929, in Galveston, Texas. She retired from the Army Corps of Engineers in Galveston after 35 years. She will be remembered for her unmatched work ethic, strong values, friendly personality, and wonderful cooking.

Hope was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Lopez; sisters, Sue Mendoza and Rosie Vasquez; and brother, Louis Peralta.

She is survived by her daughter, Renee Leith and husband, Fred, of Cordova, TN; grandchildren: Brian Leith, Adam Leith and wife, Jessica, all of Cordova, TN; and Nicholas Leith, of Chattanooga, TN; great grandchildren, Caitlin and Adam Leith; and sisters, Helen Luna, of Houston; and Gloria Peralta, of Galveston.

Pallbearers will be Brian Leith, Adam Leith, Nicholas Leith, William Schuster, Anthony Jensen, and Bobby Mendoza.
