Pearland City Council

Pearland City Council on Monday voted unanimously to approve the final reading of a property tax increase through adoption of its 2009 Tax Rate of $0.6526 per $100 valuation.

The rate remains unchanged from the previous year, but reflects a property tax increase of 0.32 percent above the effective tax rate due to increased property values.

The city council voted unanimously to approve the second reading of an ordinance adopting its Fiscal Year 2009-2010 Budget.

The city council tabled action on a resolution to adopt a five-year capital improvement program. The program would set capital improvement projects for 2010 through 2014.

The city council voted unanimously to approve a bond order by Brazoria County Municipal Utility District No. 2 to issue $6.39 million in tax and revenue refunding bonds.

The city council voted unanimously to approve a bond order by Brazoria County Municipal Utility District No. 3 to issue $6.305 million in tax and revenue refunding bonds.

The city council voted unanimously to approve a resolution waiving city development fees for a house to be built by Habitat for Humanity for a family in need.

The city council voted unanimously to remove from the table a resolution authorizing a contract for the design and installation of audio/visual communications equipment for the new Public Safety Building.

The city council cancelled an executive session to discuss economic development incentives. Therefore, no action was taken on the item.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
