The Hitchcock Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve moving 4-6 grades to Stewart Elementary when the new Hitchcock Primary School is completed and to move Pre-Kindergarten through 3rd Grade to Hitchcock Primary School.
The school board voted unanimously to remove the minimum grade level of 50 on six weeks report cards. The minimum grade score was removed in accordance with Senate Bill 2033, which was approved by the Texas Legislature. The bill prohibited assigning a minimum grade.
The school board voted 6-1, with Dianne James opposed, to approve the District Improvement Plan for the 2009-2010 school year.
The school board voted unanimously to nominate Calvin McNeal to the Galveston Central Appraisal District Board of Directors. A total of five positions are being sought for nomination on the appraisal district's board.
The school board voted unanimously to nominate five community members for the School Health Advisory Council but voted to postpone a decision on Human Sexuality Instruction pending additional information from the state.
The school board voted unanimously to leave graduation requirements in its three graduation plans unchanged. The school board will hold a workshop in November to discuss the graduation plan requirements before subject selection in the spring.
The school board voted unanimously to set October 30 as the date to invite alumni from the district back to Hitchcock.
The school board cancelled its executive session. Therefore, no action was taken on items in the executive session, which included the superintendent's contract and the board code of conduct.
All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
