Lillian B. Maupin, 79 years young, won her battle with cancer and received eternal rest on Sunday, September 27, 2009, in Galveston, Texas at home surrounded by her loving family.
Lillian was born June 25, 1930, in Cameron, Texas; grew up in Wichita Fall, TX, but spent the majority of her life in Galveston "trusting in God for everything", nurturing and rearing her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger Ben Brown and Viola Josey Brown Benoit; brother, Roger B. Brown, Jr.; sister, Reba Mae Brown and many friends.
She leaves with precious memories, daughters, Gladys Arps, Loletha Thompson, Clara Holloway; brothers, George Brown (Caryl), Clifford Brown (Sue); three generations of grandchildren; nieces, nephews; Laura Johnson, Gloria Dent (Will), Katie Woodworth; great number of friends and church family.
Viewing will begin at 5 PM on today, October 2nd, followed by a wake from 7-8 PM at the West Point Baptist Church. A celebration of a well spent life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 3, 2009, also at church with Pastor Kerry W. Tillmon officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
